Clarke PL5R Slim Pocket LED Work Light

Clarke PL5R Slim Pocket LED Work Light Review

Bike maintenance needs good light, and sometimes the ceiling fixture just doesn’t cut it. That’s where something like the Clarke PL5R Slim Pocket LED Work Light comes in handy.

Available at Machine Mart for £25.19, this compact torch picked up an Auto Express award with a 5/5 review, and it’s easy to see why.

It’s small enough to fit in a pocket but built specifically for workshop use, which gives it an edge over a phone torch. The head flips and rotates up to 180 degrees, so awkward angles aren’t a problem. A magnetic base and swivel clip mean you can position it and get both hands free for the actual job.

Two modes are on offer too. Flood mode lights up a wider area and can be dimmed, while torch mode gives a focused beam. The lithium ion battery sits in the handle and runs for over three hours per charge, topped up again through the included USB lead and plug adapter.

For the price, it covers most bases a home mechanic would need.

My two cents…

Pocket sized, workshop tough, beats your phone torch any day. Flips 180 degrees, magnetic base frees your hands, flood or focused beam, three hours battery, USB charged. Basically MacGyver’s little helper.
