John Milbank has tested the AOOCCI BX, a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto head unit that doubles as a dashcam and tyre pressure monitor. Priced at £365.48, it connects to a phone and mirrors the user’s navigation, music, and calling apps.
He fitted it to a 2001 Honda VFR800. The unit delivered solid value and dependable performance once installed. It includes two 1080p cameras, TPMS sensors, and an optional Blind Spot Detection module. The dashcam quality is sufficient for daily use, though the app used for downloading footage needs improvement.
Milbank found the screen clear and bright, with 960×480 resolution and 1,000 nits brightness. It performs well in rain but needs compatible gloves due to the capacitive touchscreen. Quick-release mounting is less practical than claimed, and firmware updates can be unreliable.
The unit runs dependably in normal conditions, with modest phone battery drain. After-sales support from China remains a weak point, as response times and warranty processes are unclear.
Despite those issues, the AOOCCI BX gives significant features for less money than many rivals. Riders wanting affordable CarPlay functionality, on-screen navigation, and basic recording capability may find it a sound choice for everyday touring.
My two cents…
If your motorcycle’s tech makes a ’90s Nokia look futuristic, the AOOCCI BX might be your midlife-crisis upgrade. So many options these days, AOOCCI have some serious competition. I cover a few of these in my EICMA 2025 report.
