Insta360 just dropped the X6, its new top of the line 360 camera, and it’s doing a lot more than spinning in circles. The company built it to cover three jobs at once. It works as a full 360 shooter, a tracking gimbal camera for solo riders and racers, and a single lens action cam for straightforward point of view footage. Riders who used to buy separate gear for each task can now grab one unit instead.
The X5 isn’t going anywhere though. Insta360 is keeping it in the lineup alongside the X6, so buyers get a choice depending on budget and needs.
The X6 pushes resolution up to 8K, a jump that should matter a lot for anyone reframing footage after the ride or pulling stills from video. Motorcycle vloggers and trackday junkies are probably the target audience here, given how often they need flexible angles without hauling multiple cameras.
Pricing details are still coming into focus, but the move to combine three cameras into one body signals where Insta360 wants to take its X series next.
My two cents…
Insta360 rolls out the X6, and no, it's not just another camera that spins around going “look at me.” This thing pulls triple duty: 360 shooter, tracking gimbal, POV cam. One box, three jobs. The X5 sticks around too, because apparently choice is still allowed. 8K resolution now, which matters if you're the trackday nerd reframing footage like it's the Zapruder film. Pricing? Still a mystery, like Riley's motivation to read fine print.
