Sena has announced a partnership with Bose to develop its next line of motorcycle intercoms. The new models, named the 60S EVO and 60X, will feature integrated Bose technology. Both devices are scheduled for release later this year.
Sena says the units will include Bose’s WaveForm Audio Engine. The system enhances clarity and depth by adjusting equalizer settings in real time. It measures ambient noise to maintain consistent sound levels while riding. This should reduce the need for riders to manually adjust volume at high speeds.
The intercoms will also include Intelligent Output Control, designed to manage sudden audio spikes. It limits abrupt increases in sound from navigation prompts or incoming calls. Sena claims this helps maintain comfort and focus during rides.
Pricing has not yet been released. Sena plans to provide review samples once production units are available.
Similar adaptive audio systems exist in consumer headphones, such as those from Skullcandy. These have shown strong results in everyday environments. The upcoming Sena models will test how well this technology performs on the road.
For now, riders can expect a software-driven step forward in bike communication systems, backed by Bose’s audio expertise.
My two cents…
Sena and Bose are hooking up, yeah, that Bose, to make the next generation of motorcycle intercoms. The 60S Evo and 60X will apparently pump out “WaveForm Audio.” Translation: fewer tinny voices shouting “can you hear me now?” through your helmet at 80 mph. The gizmos auto‑tune themselves while you ride, like a roadie trapped in your Bluetooth. No more fiddling with volume when the wind screams like Eddie Van Halen’s amp. Bonus: a brainy limiter stops your GPS from yelling “turn left” at death‑metal volume. Prices? TBD. But expect this marriage of tech nerds and audio snobs to sound pretty darn slick.
