Sena Launches MeshON Adapter And Phantom XB Helmet

Sena, the once dominant name in motorcycle comms, might finally be climbing out of its rut. The company that basically invented modern helmet Bluetooth got passed by rivals once mesh comms took over. Now two new products aim to shake things up.

First up is MeshON, a small bridge device that lets any Bluetooth headset tap into mesh networks. Strap it to your helmet, connect your Bluetooth comm, and suddenly you can chat with riders on Sena mesh or even Cardo mesh systems. It runs about a half mile of range, charges via USB C, and lasts around 12 hours. At $129, it’s a cheap way to gain mesh capability without buying a whole new unit.

Then there’s the Phantom XB helmet, a bass focused sibling to the noise canceling Phantom ANC. It skips active noise cancellation but adds 40mm speakers and reworked padding meant to boost sound quality and cut wind noise. Talktime sits at 35 hours, with the same fiberglass shell and Pinlock shield as other Phantom models.

Price lands around $600. Whether it actually delivers concert quality bass remains to be seen.

My two cents…

Sena, the OG helmet Bluetooth kingpin who got lapped like a Napster relic once mesh comms showed up, wants back in. Enter MeshON, a $129 gadget bridge that mesh ifies any Bluetooth headset, half mile range, USB C, 12 hours juice. Cheap fix, no full rebuy. Then the Phantom XB helmet, ANC’s bassy cousin. Skips noise cancelling, adds 40mm speakers, cushier padding, 35 hour talktime, same shell and Pinlock. About $600. Concert quality bass? We’ll see, I’m skeptical but curious.
