The Motocentric Waterproof (rain-proof) Helmet Bag (25 L) caught my attention because it’s not often you see a helmet bag that takes a large full-face helmet, rain-proof, lightweight and with a bargain price of US$35 (£26).
This is an ideal option for commuters going into the office, that need a simple helmet storage solution. Also you can unclip the helmet bag off the bike and clip on the shoulder strap, making it easy to carry around and much better than the drawstring bag that comes with most helmets. Plus you have a little extra room to stuff in some gloves or smaller items.
It’s pretty obvious it will never give you the same level of protection or security as a topbox, but then you cannot carry your top box around and this helmet bag costs a fraction of the price.

Features & Specifications
The helmet bag is lightweight, primarily made of a 1200D fabric with a waterproof coating, so it offers good weather proofing, but minimal protection if you have an accident.
The helmet bag has hardshell sides and a padded interior to keep your helmet safe while everyday commuting and carrying it around. The opening is wide and the bag easily accommodates a large full-face helmet as you can see from my photos. Also has some internal pockets and an elasticated bungee cord on the top cover.
The zippers have nice size pull tabs and and are waterproofed using a vinyl cover strip.
The underside of the helmet bag is a fake leather vinyl material that stops it slipping around and also does a good job of protecting anything it is sitting or mounted onto.
The helmet bag comes with plenty of mounting straps and also a padded shoulder strap if you want to carry the helmet bag off the bike. Also a carry handle, if that’s your thing 🙂

Soak Test
The helmet bag is fully rainproof when you use the rain cover. That said, after giving the bag a good soaking without the rain cover, I was surprised that I found no water inside the bag, so you should be just fine if it starts to rain, before you have time to get the cover on. Verdict
As a budget helmet bag, this offers great value in my opinion. It’s weatherproof, mounts easily on most bikes, cheap and does exactly what it claims. What’s not to like!
Very handy if you commute in to the office and need something to store your helmet in or carry around off the bike.
It’s also pretty handy if you occasionally ride two-up, you can use it to carry your passengers helmet when they’re not on the bike.
