Kriega has teamed up with British firm Rheon to introduce a cutting-edge back protector for their rucksack range.
Priced at £55, this CE Level Two-rated insert is lightweight at 300g and fits into a dedicated pouch in most Kriega backpacks, except the Hydro-2.
Developed from NASA research, Rheon’s honeycomb, non-Newtonian material remains flexible until impact, offering both comfort and protection. Some older Kriega bags may also be compatible.
Available in black only, this space-age tech offers an affordable safety upgrade, though riders will still need separate protection when not using a backpack.
My two cents…
I have some Kriega gear and it is excellent quality and to date has lasted me years.
I normally wear a back protector in my jacket, so I personally would have no need for this.
That said, this seems a very niche product to me.
Kriega products are available at Revzilla.
