Harman introduced Ready Ride, its first dedicated motorcycle connectivity platform. The system is built for manufacturers, not direct consumers. It gives motorcycle brands a pre-engineered hardware and software package for faster tech integration in new models.
Less than five percent of motorcycles worldwide have telematics systems. Riders still expect navigation, media, and safety features. Many rely on smartphones fixed to handlebars, which risks damage from weather and vibration. Harman says Ready Ride delivers motorcycle-grade connectivity that removes those issues.
The platform uses a scalable telematics control unit and runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis. The unit is IP69 rated for dust and water resistance. It has been tested against strong vibration and fits into tight spaces. Ready Ride supports over-the-air updates and can adapt over time as new features arrive.
Safety and security are major parts of the system. It supports hazard alerts, crash detection, and eCall functionality. It also has a backup battery for emergencies. Theft detection, vehicle tracking, and remote immobilisation are built in.
Harman positions Ready Ride as a modular approach to connected motorcycles, allowing OEMs to deploy modern digital safety and infotainment systems with minimal development effort.
My two cents…
Harman just rolled out “Ready Ride”, its first “smart bike” brain, but don’t get your helmet too tight, it’s for manufacturers, not weekend warriors. Basically, it’s plug‑and‑play hardware and software so brands can shove tech into new bikes faster.
