In a bid to enhance safety for motorcyclists, Garmin has debuted the zūmo R1 Radar system at CES.
The system incorporates a rearview camera and a radar system, providing visibility for areas traditionally considered blind spots for riders, and includes features such as adjustable intensity lights and vehicle presence alerts.
The system can be linked to a compatible headset for audio prompts.
The zūmo R1 Radar is priced at $599.99 and works with existing motorcycles, offering an added safety measure for riders on the road.
My two cents…
Blind spot detection has been around for a while on some high end motorcycles.
I’m all for anything that adds more safety to the riding experience.
The video at the link below is interesting, they have a rider on a canyon road with no cars around.
I would have thought a demo on a hwy with lots of cars would have been more persuasive. 🙂
The best prices I have seen on Garmin products is on Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).
