The DJI Osmo Action 6 adds a square sensor that records both landscape and portrait footage without cropping. Riders and vloggers can film once and edit for any platform. The variable aperture aids close-up detail work, especially with the optional macro lens.
During testing on a Triumph Scrambler 400XC, the camera handled mixed lighting and fast motion well. The footage looked sharp and stable. Dual touchscreens made framing easy from either side. Built-in 50GB storage recorded most of a day’s filming. Battery life outlasted storage, and data transfer was fast over USB-C.
Audio performance stood out. The Action 6 supports dual wireless microphones, reducing editing time for interviews. Wind reduction works but can suppress engine sound. Some lens flare appeared in night shots, and the “lossless zoom” reduced image quality.
Accessories expand its use. The macro lens captures small details, ND filters help manage exposure, and quick-release mounts make repositioning simple. DJI claims 20m waterproofing, which should be enough for heavy rain.
The DJI Care Refresh plan costs from £22 and covers accidental damage. For creators seeking a flexible, sturdy camera that fits motorcycle touring or social content production, the Osmo Action 6 is a strong all-round option.
My two cents…
Another great review from John at Bennets Social.
DJI and Insta360 are killing GoPro right now!
The only people I know that are still using GoPro’s are those locked into their eco-system as they have too much equipment or cannot afford to upgrade.
DJI’s Osmo Action 6 is available directly from Amazon (USA) and Amazon (UK).
