In a motel room in Nova Scotia, Zac Kurylyk found himself earplugless and desperate before a long spring ride. Digging into his tank bag, he remembered the DIY Decibullz custom-fit earplugs he’d tossed in. A microwave, a coffee cup of hot water, and a few minutes later, he had a surprisingly solid fit.
At just over $30 CAD, they’re not perfect, but they’re close, re-moldable, and offer solid noise reduction.
Zac says they’re not as quiet as the pricier Big Ears but definitely beat your average foamies. Sometimes, a last-minute workaround really does save your ears and your ride.
My two cents…
Earplugs are a personal thing, after trying many, I use custom-molded ones.
I have found the moldable foam type loses their spongyness over time, hence the reason I now use silicon molded plugs.
