John Milbank reports that the Datatag Tool Marking System gives riders peace of mind by helping identify stolen tools through unique ID labels and forensic Datadots.
The kit marks up to 24 tools, includes UV-reactive adhesive and durable “Ultra Destruct” stickers, and links everything to Datatag’s secure police-accessible database.
Installation takes a bit of cleaning time, especially on older gear, but it’s simple to apply.
While the system isn’t transferable, Milbank finds it a solid deterrent and a practical way to protect valuable kit for motorcyclists and garage tinkerers alike.
My two cents…
Great idea, just don’t like the idea is you have no way of passing it on to a new owner if you sell your bike. Bike and tool theft is rampant these days, so regardless of its minor shortfalls, it’s well worth the investment.
