Garmin has announced the inReach Mini 3, a compact satellite communicator built for backcountry users. The new model updates the long-running Mini 2 with fresh hardware and features found on larger devices.
The Mini 3 starts at $499.99. It keeps the small form factor but adds a color touchscreen and larger battery. The company states it can last up to 330 hours in 10-minute tracking mode. The unit remains IP67 waterproof and impact resistant.
Users can now send and receive voice and photo messages. Voice clips last up to 30 seconds and can be transcribed to text when needed. Messages sync through the Garmin Messenger app or appear directly on the device screen.
The device still uses the Iridium satellite network for global coverage. Tracking, SOS, and text communication work without cell service, which appeals to hunters, riders, and travelers.
Garmin’s VP of Consumer Sales and Marketing, Susan Lyman, said the goal is to help adventurers stay connected and share updates easily. The Mini 3 keeps the familiar rugged design but makes communication simpler and more visual.
The inReach Mini 3 will be available later this year through Garmin’s website and outdoor retailers.
My two cents…
The previous versions of InReach are all great, this takes it to another level.
Coming soon at US$499, because Instagramming from nowhere is the new flex 🙂
