Garmin Launches Zumo R1 Radar For Motorcycle Safety

Garmin has rolled out the Zumo R1 Radar, a safety tool built to give motorcyclists an extra set of eyes on the road.

The compact system uses radar to monitor traffic up to about 197 feet behind and alerts riders through indicator lights, tones, or connected devices like the Zumo XT2 or a smartphone app.

Riders can mount the lights on their mirrors or dash, while the rear sensor can even warn following drivers with flashing lights. Setup is simple, durability is solid, and accuracy is high.

At around US$600, it’s a serious investment, but adds meaningful situational awareness.
