Bennetts BikeSocial just pushed a video breaking down motorcycle navigation options for riders on any budget. The channel walks through everything from using a basic smartphone to dedicated navigation tablets built for two wheels. For short local rides, a paper map still works fine. But anyone covering longer distances usually needs something more reliable strapped to the handlebars.
The video covers phone mounting setups, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay head units, before moving into gear built specifically for motorcycles. Products reviewed include the Beeline Moto II, the Carpe Iter Caretta, the Garmin Zumo XT2, and the TomTom Rider 550. There’s also a segment comparing phone mounts from Peak Design, Quad Lock, and SP Connect, since the mount matters as much as the device itself when you’re on a bike.
My two cents…
Paper maps still work, shocking nobody. Long rides demand something bolted to the bars, think Garmin Zumo XT2, TomTom Rider 550, even a retired phone pressed into service. Mounts matter too.
