Cardo Systems just rolled out Mesh Boost, a free software update for its PACKTALK line that riders have been asking about for a while. The update bumps Dynamic Mesh Communication group size up to 31 riders, which Cardo says is the biggest group capacity in powersports comms right now.
Two new features come along with it. Public Mesh lets riders create open, spontaneous mesh networks on the fly. Remote Grouping makes pairing easier without fumbling through settings mid ride.
The update ships Over The Air through the Cardo Connect App and works on all 2nd generation PACKTALK devices. Older PACKTALK models can still connect into a Mesh Boost powered group, but won’t get the new features themselves.
Dan Emodi, Cardo’s Chief Marketing Officer, said the rollout took longer than planned because the team wanted to avoid pushing out features before they were ready. He pointed to the added group size, Public Mesh, and simpler pairing as proof the wait paid off.
Cardo built the first motorcycle mesh communicator back in 2015, and this update marks another step in that same mesh technology line.
My two cents…
Cardo drops Mesh Boost, free, finally, on PACKTALK. Now 31 riders can yell about gas prices simultaneously. Public Mesh lets strangers join your chaos uninvited, Remote Grouping kills the fumbling. Ships wireless, 2nd gen only, old models just eavesdrop. CMO Dan Emodi says the delay was worth it. Sure, Dan. Mesh pioneers since 2015, still tinkering.
