Affordable CarPlay Upgrade For Everyday Motorcycles

A ride on a modern Street Glide says a lot about today’s tech. Its 6.5 inch TFT handles CarPlay, navigation, music, and gauges in one place. It feels standard. It is not.

About 95 percent of motorcycles on the road lack a large CarPlay ready display. Only 25 percent of bikes in the US are new enough to even offer that tech. Even then, it usually shows up on high end tourers and adventure models.

CarPlay MotorCycle wants to close that gap. Its X6 2K Dashcam adds a 6.25 inch weather resistant touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Riders can keep their phone in a pocket and still access maps, music, and calls.

Install takes about 90 minutes on a naked bike like a Yamaha FZ 07. The unit ties into keyed power. It includes waterproof connectors, a handlebar remote, and front and rear 2K cameras with 140 degree view.

On the road, the X6 shows speed, tire pressure, and compass heading. It offers blind spot alerts and split screen camera view. The screen can wash out in direct sun, so the visor helps.

At roughly half the price of many rivals, the X6 delivers solid value and practical features for everyday riders.

My two cents…

Only 25 percent in the US are new enough to even offer CarPlay, and usually on pricey tourers and adventure rigs. Enter the X6 2K Dashcam. A 6.25 inch weather resistant touchscreen with CarPlay and Android Auto, plus front and rear cameras. Knight Rider vibes, minus the attitude. Honestly, about time.
