Sena has launched the Spider X Slim, a new mesh intercom that signals a clear shift in the brand’s design direction. The unit features an ultra slim profile made possible by a remote battery. Riders can place the battery inside or outside the helmet. This setup trims down the main module and helps it sit closer to the helmet shell.
The Spider X Slim runs Mesh Intercom 3.0 with compatibility for Mesh 2.0. It offers rider to rider communication up to 1.6 km. Wave Intercom allows communication over cellular networks with no distance limit. Users can stream music, hear GPS directions, take calls and chat with passengers.
Sound by Bose drives the audio through a dedicated digital processor with tuned equalisation. The system includes AI powered microphone noise reduction, voice commands, FM radio, OTA updates and an IPX7 waterproof rating. Battery life reaches up to 11 hours of talk time.
Custom covers come in black, chrome, silver or white. Pricing starts at £239 for a single pack and £459 for a dual pack. Sena backs the unit with a limited lifetime warranty under its stated terms.
My two cents…
Sena just unveiled the Spider X Slim and yes, it looks like the brand finally discovered restraint. The big news is the ultra slim profile, thanks to a remote battery you can stash inside or outside the helmet. Result? The main unit hugs the shell instead of clinging on like a late era Bluetooth barnacle. Progress. It runs Mesh Intercom 3.0 with 2.0 compatibility, reaches 1.6 km rider to rider, and Wave Intercom blows the doors off distance limits via cellular. Music, GPS, calls, passenger chat. Basically your two wheeled command centre.Bose audio, AI mic cleanup, FM radio, waterproofing, 11 hours battery. From £239. Not cheap. But neither was your Discman.
