Baldinger Reconsiders Mosko Moto Reckless 80

Robert Baldinger says he got it wrong about the Mosko Moto Reckless 80. He long claimed it was too big for small adventure bikes. After years with the Reckless 40, he assumed the extra volume would mean extra weight up high.

He mounted the Reckless 80 on a Ténéré 700 and packed it for a real camping trip. The full load came to 15.5 kg. He carried a sleeping kit, cooking gear, tools, and recovery equipment. The result surprised him.

He found the 60 liter system distributed weight better than the smaller Reckless 40. The side legs kept mass low and close to the bike. The setup felt planted on gravel and stable on pavement. He says the bike handled better than expected.

In his latest video, he compares the Reckless 80 and Reckless 40. He shares a full packing breakdown and explains how he organizes each dry bag. He also walks through weight placement for midsize adventure bikes.

Riders who hesitate to go bigger may want to watch. Baldinger says capacity brings flexibility, and smart packing makes the difference.

My two cents…

Robert Baldinger just ate a little humble pie. For years he insisted the Mosko Moto Reckless 80 was too much luggage for small adventure bikes. More volume, more weight up high, more drama. That was the theory. Turns out theory can be wrong, kind of like thinking New Coke was a good idea.He slapped the Reckless 80 on a Ténéré 700, packed 15.5 kg of camping life, and braced for regret. Instead? Balance. The 60 liter setup kept weight low and tight. Gravel felt planted. Pavement felt calm. Who knew.In his latest video he breaks down packing strategy and weight placement. Bigger, he says, can mean smarter. Not bloated. Smart.
