Auritech and the Bike Shed Motorcycle Club have announced a joint initiative to support hearing health among UK motorcyclists. During Tinnitus Week 2026, from 2 to 9 February, they will give away 100 free sets of Auritech Universal Biker Earplugs to Bike Shed members.
Tinnitus affects one in seven adults, according to Tinnitus UK. Prolonged exposure to noise above 80 decibels can cause hearing damage. At 35mph, bikers experience around 85-95 decibels. At 65mph, that can climb to 110-116 decibels, where hearing damage can occur in less than a minute.
Auritech says its earplugs reduce harmful noise while allowing essential sounds like traffic and communication to remain clear. Riders can collect their free set by showing their Bike Shed membership card in-store during the giveaway week.
Auritech Director Wendy Faulkner said the partnership will help raise awareness about hearing protection among riders. Bike Shed Global Brand Director Gareth Charlton praised the collaboration, noting that the earplugs have long been trusted by their community.
The initiative encourages bikers to view proper hearing protection as part of standard riding gear, in line with helmets and gloves.
My two cents…
Teaming up to save bikers’ ears from the world’s loudest midlife crisis, wind noise.
I wear haring protection and so should you! Here is an article I wrote on the hunt for hearing protection and good helmet audio.
