Denali Electronics started 14 years ago in Rhode Island with a focus on powersports lighting. The company quickly adopted LED technology when others still used HID and halogen bulbs. Now, the Denali D3 Light Pods mark a milestone for the brand and for riders seeking legal, high-performance lighting.
Each 36-watt D3 Pod uses Cree LEDs to project light more than 1000 feet. That equals about 10 seconds of stopping time at highway speeds. Each 3.5-inch pod outputs about 2100 lumens through Denali’s TriOptic lens system. Riders can choose a spot beam or switch to a hybrid lens for SAE, DOT, and ECE compliance.
On the Honda CRF300L Rally test bike, the 72-watt draw required some electrical monitoring. The rider used a Klim battery-powered heated shirt and gloves to offset the power demand. Installation focused on careful mounting and wire routing, using Denali articulating bar mounts and a waterproof switch harness.
Proper aim was critical. The pods were adjusted using markings on a garage door six feet away. Night testing showed strong visibility at a verified 1000 feet.
The D3 Light Pods delivered effective, legal illumination, improving comfort and safety for long rides starting before sunrise and ending after dark.
My two cents…
Denali Electronics make some great lights, at a great (large) price tag.
If you want the best, pay for Denali, if you want good lights, look around, lots of options.
