WP is entering the braking systems market with a new OEM-focused line of components. The Austrian supplier confirmed development of 19 brake parts aimed at production motorcycles.
The project expands WP’s role beyond suspension supply, a segment where it has long worked with KTM and other performance brands. The company is now under Bajaj Mobility AG after KTM AG’s insolvency at the end of 2024.
A team of 11 engineers has developed the new systems. WP built a 6,000 square metre facility with in-house machining, assembly, testing and anodising. The site can produce up to 300,000 complete brake systems and 1.5 million hoses per year.
WP’s flagship product is a four-piston radial front caliper weighing 740 grams. Features include aluminium pistons, die-cast caliper bodies and high-pressure braided hoses. The focus is on reduced weight, efficient cooling and consistent lever feel.
The range targets mid-capacity and smaller motorcycles. WP also confirmed plans for a new radial master cylinder and rear calipers with service-friendly designs.
The company’s expansion places it in direct competition with Brembo, J.Juan, Nissin and ByBre. WP appears focused on OEM integration, offering manufacturers a unified suspension and braking package under one supplier network.
My two cents…
Well, look who’s slamming on the brakes, literally. If they can make their brakes as good as their suspension, I’m all for it.
Post‑KTM insolvency, they’re rolling under Bajaj’s umbrella and acting like the breakup never happened.
