Ultimate Addons Premium Plus Heated Grips Review

Ultimate Addons Premium Plus Heated Grips Review

John Milbank tested the Ultimate Addons Premium Plus heated grips on his 2001 Honda VFR800. These replacement grips offer five heat levels, an auto shut-off feature, and a simple one-button control built into the left grip.

Temperature readings reached 60°C in 13°C air, climbing to 75°C after extended idling. In use, they kept hands comfortably warm during cold rides. Most riders will stay on Levels 3 to 5.

Installation takes care. The tight fit may need careful persuasion, and on some bikes the right grip may not seat perfectly due to throttle tube design. The grips draw up to 3A, so connection points must be chosen carefully, especially on bikes using CANbus or lithium batteries.

The grips turn off if battery voltage falls below 11.5V. They work best with waterproof gloves, though moisture can build up inside over long wet rides.

At £159.99, they cost less than factory-fitted systems but more than entry-level alternatives. Competitors include the Oxford HotGrips Pro 2.0 at £199.99 and Oxford HotGrips Premium at £79.99.

Overall, the Ultimate Addons Premium Plus grips deliver solid heat, straightforward controls, and dependable performance for riders facing cold weather.

My two cents…

Excellent video, well worth a watch if you are looking for some new heated grips.

These grips crank out five heat levels, auto shut off when your battery’s crying, and use one button so you don’t have to play finger Twister mid‑ride. They’ll toast up to 75°C, which is basically lava for palms. Still, they warm cold knuckles without frying circuits. Cheaper than factory gear, cooler than frostbite.
